Over the last few weeks I’ve had many conversations with parents who are worried about their children’s education. If you're like them, I imagine you are spending a lot of time trying to figure out what to do about going back to school.
The COVID-19 pandemic does not seem to be slowing down and the decisions about school are complex. Either you send students to school and risk their health and the health of the teachers and staff, or you keep them home for homeschooling/distance learning while trying to get your own work done.
As an engineer, I always hope to see one right answer after looking through all the data, but there doesn’t seem to be one right now. Making decisions in times of such uncertainty and without complete information is really hard.
There is no perfect solution. What is best for one family might not be good for another. Please give yourself, your kids, and others in your community some grace and encouragement during these challenging times. We are all on this wonderful, blue planet traveling around a pretty average star together. Let’s remember that.
